Ford Repair: Tune up on 1996 Ford Contour, ford contour, ford garage

Question
Hi Eric,

I don't know how soon I will get a response from you but I'd like to know a recommendation where I can take my car for a tune-up that won't be too expensive.  I use it mostly for work and travel approximately 20 miles round trip daily.

However, I bought the car six months ago from an auction, had numerous problems and its never been quite right in my opinion, although I've taken it to several mechanics, one certified.

My check engine light is on, the car shakes and rattles so that I know the timing is off (one of the mechanics supposedly fixed that but I don't know how long that should last before needing to be fixed again).  Also, I don't know if by getting a tune-up, it that will resolve the timing too or is that another separate expense?

How long is work guaranteed by a certified mechanic?

I would prefer to trade in my car and just get another one but I am unable to do so at this time.  I would like to get it fixed today, even if I have to wait on it.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
The only place I could suggest is a Ford garage, since we most likely don't live in the same state.
As far as a guarante is concerned, that is dependant on the garage that you are going to.
