Ford Repair: engine swap, salvage yard, block engines

Question
I have a 1971 Torino 500 wagon. It has it's original 351C 4bbl, with C-6 trans. I would like to swap it down to a 302 2bbl. Will the 302 bolt up to my C-6? Also, where can I find an engine that is ready to run? As you know, most long blocks need intakes, covers, oil pans, and so on. And none of my original 351 stuff will work.
Thanks,   Mike

Answer
Mike,

Yes, the C-6 will bolt up to the 302. But what is wrong with your 351C. It is a rare engine that was only made from 1970 to 1974 and is one of the best small block engines that Ford ever made. If you plan on selling that, that the engine is worth at least $3 grand easy, so do not let yourself get ripped off. You can either purchase a crate engine from an after market company, such as PAW (www.pawengineparts.com), make excellent crate engines or you can always go to a reputable salvage yard and pick up a good used engine. Hope that this information is of help and good luck.
