Ford Repair: 91 Explorer Gas Gauge, gas gauge, fuel sending unit

Question
I have a 1991 Explorer XLT 4x4 with 147000 mi on it and the gas gauge is stuck on the E position.  I recently replaced the Sending Unit and Fuel Pump.  When it first started acting up a good bump would fix it.  Now it doesn't move.  What can be done to fix it?

Answer
Hello and thanks for your question...I'll try to help.
It sounds like either the wires have a poor connection at the fuel pump or the fuel sending unit has a sunk float.......New does NOT always mean good. I would check th wires first, and IF all is good/clean/tight there, then check the gage with a gage testing unit (you might need a garage to do this for you) ---After all that, then I would susspect the sending unit.
Hope this helps,
Erik
