Question
My 87 F-150 won't start. I have head lights and horn, but I don't have dashbord lights when the key is turned to the on position, and the engine does not turn over when the key is turned all the way. I can turn the engine over if I cross the solinoid with a screwdriver please help               sincerly Mark

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
First let's do some basic checking....
1. Locate the starter solenoid at the fender wall and check for power at the red w/blue stripe wire. Hook a test light with the clip to the negative side of the battery. Next have a person turn the key, like they were starting the vehicle. Check the wire with the test light.......does it light? If it does, the problem is in the solenoid or starter. If not, the problem is before them.

Please let me know what you find, and get back to me. This information will help me guide you to a better diagnosis.
Thanks,
Erik
