Ford Repair: Ford F-150 XLT 1999 Heating System, ford f 150, bad hope

Question
hey Ken, thanks for being available for this.  My heating system isn't working.  the a/c works well and the  blower is working fine.  but when i turn the hot/cold dial to red, it still blows cold air.  the heat worked fine last winter.  I would like to try to fix it myself, but I don't know how the system works so i don't know where to start.  Thanks, Rich Quintal in Atlanta GA.

Answer
Mr. Quintal,

First of all you need to take out your glove box and you will see a white tab on your heater control cable. As you turn your heater from hot to cold you will be able to tell if the tab is out of its slot if you see it move while changing between hot and cold. If it moves, you will need to put it back in it's slot. If that is not the problem, I would next change the thermostat. The only other thing it could be is that your heater core is bad. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Good luck,

Ken
