Ford Repair: clutch, haynes repair manual, clutch work

Question
91 FORD F150. The clutch was replaced about a year ago. About 2 weeks ago I noticed the clutch wasn't letting out as much as it use to. I noticed it lower and lower. Now when I step on the clutch and crank it up, I can't get it into gear. Or, when I step on the clutch, have it in gear, and try to crank it, the gear is engaged, and the clutch is all the way to the floor. What is the problem? And how can I fix it? Keep in mind I've never done clutch work before. Please be clear. I appreciate your help.

Answer
Troop,

You could possibly have a leak in the clutch hydraulic system or your clutch plate could be warped or damaged. Pop open your hood and look in the driver's side firewall, you will see a little container, that is where your hydraulic fluid goes and if it is empty, you obviously have a leak. If you need to change this, the best way is to go to your local auto parts store (such as Auto Zone, Advanced Auto or Napa) and purchase a Haynes Repair Manual for the make, model and year of your vehicle. Keep in mind, if this is a 4WD, there is a tremendous amount of work involved. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
