Ford Repair: 1984 MUSTANG GT MISFIRE, inner fender, shock tower

Question
Steve, you responed with maybe a MAP problem, but I purchased a Chilton,s repair manual for 1979-88 mustang. In the book under Emission Control there is no listing for a MAP sensor.Could this be listed another way?If so,where would it be located on my car. (ps: my car is a 1984 musang gt CFI single exhaust, automatic)Thank You,Bob

Answer
Bob-

I have the same Chiltons and I had one hell of a time finding any reference to it at all.  On page 4-39 there are references to trouble codes involving the MAP sensor, but not much more.  The problem is that it's not really part of the emissions system.  It works with the intake side of things.  If memory serves me, the sensor itself is located on the driver's side inner fender behind the shock tower.  I'm a little sketch yon that...it's been a long time since I worked on a CFI equipped car.  Hope this helps.
