Ford Repair: 92 Ford Explorer Sport, ford explorer sport, inertia switch

Question
Hello Dave,
I recently replaced a freeze plug that blew out on Ex with 150k miles.  I had it towed home and the next day I moved it onto the driveway so that I could replace the freeze plug.
After replacing the freeze plug, I filled it with water, but now it won't start.  I notice that when I turn the key, I don't hear the fuel pump whining as usual.  Is there a fuel pump cut off switch or inertia switch that might have been triggered?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Dave.

Jim

Answer
Yes, all electronic fuel pumps have an Inertia or Fuel Cut-off Switch for safety.  It may have been tripped during towing.  I'm not sure where it is on this vehicle, I would first check the jack storage compartment in the rear of the vehicle. It could also be in either kick panel, or near the front passenger floor where the transmission hump and firewall meet.

I hope this helps,
Dave
