Ford Repair: Starting in Hot weather, vapor lock, gague

Question
I have a 1967 mustang coup with a aftermarket 302 engine that has problems starting in hot weather after sitting in the heat for a long time.  I've been told that its possiably vapor lock causing this.  If this is the problem how do I go about fixing it.  Also when accelerating there is sometimes a chug or a delay before the acceleration starts and the engine revs higher.  My gas gague has also recently died and I'm wondering if there is anyway to repair it without buying a whole new cluster.  I know that it is the gague that has the problem becaus i tested the wires leading to it with a voltage tester and there is a current going through those wires.
Thankyou

I WOULD SAY YOUR CARB IS THE PROBLEM. WHEN YOUR CAR IS HOT THE FUEL IN THE FUEL BOWL OF THE CARB BOILS, CAUSING VAPOR LOCK. TO HELP THE PROBLEM,TAKE THE CARB OFF AND ADD A SPACER BETWEEN THE CARB AND MANIFOLD. YOU CAN GET THE GUAGE FROM MUSTANG UNLIMITED. YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE THE CLUSTER OUT TO REPLACE IT.THE CHUG YOU MENTION IS ALSO A CARB PROBLEM.YOU MAY NEED A REBUILD KIT,WHICH YOU CAN GET AT MOST AUTO PARTS STORE.BEFORE I WENT WITH A REBUILD I WOULD FIX THE VAPOR LOCK FIRST,AS IT MAY BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.HOPE THIS HELPS.
