Nissan Repair: Jumping a dead battery, dead car, hybrid car

Question
Dear Expert,

When I am jump starting the dead car, I was told to step on the gas pedal of the source car, revving it up to high rpms in order to give the charge a little more "juice".  Is there any logic in this?  Does it actually do anything?  Thanks in advance.

Michael

Answer
Hi Michael -

If the source car battery is not strong, or the dead battery on the other car is really dead, it does help to rev the source car up. This helps charge the battery more from the alternator of the source car giving it more power to start the other car.

One word of warning. Do not attempt to jump any type of hybrid car. Serious injury could occur.

Hope this helps -
