Ford Repair: Engine Idle, vacuum hoses, water impurities

Question
I have a 1992 Ford p/u. 5L engine. When the engine idles the idle speed drops off than comes back to normal. Sometimes it drops so far that it stalls. This happens even after the engine is warmed up. I have been told it has something to do with the idle oxygen regulator. (what ever that is) Can you help me

Answer
Ms. Michaels,

Some of the reasons that your engine could be stalling out are as follows: 1)Your idle speed could be incorrect, 2)fuel filter is clogged or water/impurities in the system, 3)fault in fuel system or sensors, 4)distributor components damp or damaged, 5) faulty emissions system components, 6) faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs or 7) vacuum leak at the carbuerator/throttle body,  intake manifold or vacuum hoses. It is also possible that your idle air control could be bad. If none of these help, please contact me again and I will try to help you from that point. Hope this helps and good luck.
