Ford Repair: Water disaster!, ford windstar gl, computer sensors

Question
Hi, My only car, a Ford Windstar-GL-95, was just caught in a flash flood. Water went up to the windsheild. Finally got it pushed up the street; of course, would not turn over, although the lights and alarm went off. Mud under the hood.
Question: Is the car lost or is there a chance it could dry out and start. What has to be considered if I have any hope of saving the car? I see other cars on our block turned over, that were flooded. Your earliest wisdom is appreciated, Sir. Thanks

Answer
Cliff,

The main thing is to check all of the electronics on the car: computer, sensors, etc. Obviously all the mud needs to be cleaned out from under the hood, the dash and anywhere else it may have gotten. Sorry to say but your odds of fixing this cheaply are about 50-50. If after all of the checking and cleaning it still will not run, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable auto repair shop to have the vehicle checked and repaired. It could cost $2000 dollars and up, especially if they have to replace all the electronic components. I am sorry that I can not give you better news and I wish you all the best.
