Ford Repair: 1999 escort disc pad removal, front end vibration, pad removal

Question
I have a 1999 escort with a front end vibration when I apply the brakes.  I have removed the front wheels and examined the rotors and pads.  The pads have 1/4 of the pad left on them.  When I checked the rotors I did not notice through looking and them and physically touching them any grooves or pits in the rotors.  Why am I having this problem?  Please advise.  P.S. Do you have any instructions for the removal of the brake pads which you could send me?

Answer
RJ,

If your pads are a 1/4 of the way down it could cause the vibration you are describing. Also the brand of brake pads or your rotors could cause this problem as well. Just because you can't see and wear and tear on the rotors does not mean that it does not exists because the rotors could be out 1/1000's and be bad. I have no instructions to give you for brake removal. I am recommending that you go to your local Auto Zone, Napa or Advanced Auto store and purchase a Haynes manual, specific to the year, make and model of your car. Hope that this helps and good luck.
