Ford Repair: 351 FORD engine, 351 ford, valve seals

Question
Hi Ken, I asked you a question a couple of weeks ago about a 351 Ford engine in a boat. You suggested a floating PCV valve. The owner of the boat replaced it and it didn't help. Yesterday I took a ride on the boat and the smoke poured out of both valve covers [ I took the breather off one and the PCV off the other ], This engine shows no smoke out the exhaust but pours smoke and I mean pours smoke out of the valve cover breather. Engine temp. is normal and everything else seems normal.  Thanks Ken, Burnie

Answer
Burnie,

Are you making sure that the hose to the PCV is not pinched and and that you have got vacuum? The only other think that I could think of is that you have  bad valve seals. I have heard of this doing this but it is rare. Also, if you have too much oil in the engine, it will smoke out the valve covers. Hope that this helps. If you need further help, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.

Ken
