Ford Repair: Warped Rotors, break pads, ford dealership

Question
My hubby and I have a 2003 Ford Focus with 30,350 miles at 1yr and 3 months old. We took the car to a certified auto shop and 3 mechanics looked at the rotors and the brake pads. THe rotors had warped from top to bottom meaning the top of the rotor was worn very thin and the bottom was very thick. They took one of the rotors and tried to turn it and had to cut it 3 times to get it even. Also, the rotor was very glossy and crystallized. So, was the brake pads-they still had some use on it though. But, because the rotors had warped so bad and the brake pads was crystallized too smooth on the surface . We had to replace both. With this info what are your views on this and if it is a normal process for rotors on a vehicle that is a year old with 30,000 miles on it?  Oh, by the way the mechanics said that with something like this that it seems to be a mechanical problem. The Ford dealership where we purchased the car from says its a just a wear and tear and we were lucky to get 30,000 miles out it. Not only that but people have been getting only 11,000 miles out of the company manufacturedly installed brakes and rotors. Hmmmmm

Answer
Tasha,

First off let me say that the style of driving greatly affects the wear and tear of the rotors and break pads. That being said, it could be normal wear and tear or it is possible that you have a bad caliper and you should have the calipers checked for sticking. Hope that this is the information you were looking for and good luck.
