Ford Repair: Oil Pan, harmonic damper, pan gasket

Question
-------------------------Does this mean that I have to disconnect all hoses, lines, tranny etc etc?  I thought this would be simple, plus I do not have a hoist.  Thanks Chris and Michael

Jordan,  my 15 year old son saved his money for an old 93 250 van.  The oil pan gasket is cracked and leaking like a sieve and I was showing him how to replace it and the darn pan won't slide out.  It has been years since I worked on a car and never had this much trouble.  Any secret and please don't tell me we need to pull the tranny.  Thanks in advance, Chris and Michael

Try loosening the engine mount bolts and pull the motor up a little.  You dont have to take the engine out, just jack it up a few inches and the pan should have enough room to come out.

Answer
No, you dont have to take anything off.  Just undo the motor mounts and pull or push up on the engine a little.  Putting a floor jack under the harmonic damper works to push the motor up, but then thats kind of in the way.  Be creative, you only have to get the engine up a few inches.
