Ford Repair: brakes, ford taurus, brake fluid

Question
I'm having trouble w/my 98 ford taurus, I step on the brake and its all the way down to the bottom and the car does not stop. Can you tell me if its just brake fluid or do I need to repair a certain part? there is no noise, I just bought the car at an auction. Please help me, I am stuck at work wondering if all there is to it is the brake fluid. Please respond promptly.

Answer
Alicia-

My guess is that the brakes just need to be bled.  This will get rid of any air that may have gotten into your brake system and caused the pedal to become spongy.  If they're bled and the problem is still there then I'd have the master cylinder checked out.  You might take a look at the master cylinder...you can tell where the fluid's at and see if it's at the fill line.  Hope this helps.
