Ford Repair: 4x4, shift fork, lengthy response

Question
I KNOW THIS IS NEWER THEN 1974, BUT. MY BRONCO, A 1989 FULL SIZED, W/ A 302, WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 4X4.I CLEANED AND LUBBED THE HUBS, AND SHECKED THE LINKAGE(WHICH IS NOT ADJUSTABLE). IT WILLGO IN 4 LOWAND HIGH,AND NUETRAL, BUT NOT 2. THE SHIFTER GOES INTO 2 BUT THE TRANSFER CASE WILL NOT DISENGAGE. AND SUCGUSTIONS?

Answer
Lance,

Did you try backing up a short distance after you shift the vehicle into 2W? Alot of times the transfer case will not disengage until you do this. Also, it should have an adjustable linkage. If it does not it was changed. The only other thing your trouble could be is a bent shift fork, in which case you will need the transfer case either rebuilt or replaced. Hope that  this helps and if you need more help, please do not hesitate to ask. I apologize for the lengthy response time but I was experiencing technical difficulties with my ISP. Good luck.
