Ford Repair: Intake Swap:, vacuum lines, efi motor

Question
Steve
I have an 88 302 EFI I want to put in my new 84 F-150. I also have an 83 302 with a good carb on it. Both were running engines when I pulled them.
My question is will I need anything other than what I have to make this EFI a carberated engine?
I am a very poor auto electrican and can't afford to convert the truck to EFI. Although I did pull the under-hood wiring harness & brain box out of the donor wagon. Next question is what would you guess this EFI setup might be worth to sell??
Thanks
Ron

Answer
Ron-

The swap is fairly simple.  You'll need to swap the distributor for a non-EFI piece since an EFI distributor relies on the computer for advance and retardation of the timing.  An ignition control module would also help things out...I'd recommend a coil and control module from MSD.  You'll obviously need a carb manifold and, depending on your transmission, you may need to modify or swap in a different linkage (this applies to automatic transmissions only).  Other than that it's pretty much just misc. things like hooking up vacuum lines and setting the choke.  As for the EFI setup...stock systems aren't worth much at all on the open market.  If you're luck you might find someone swapping an EFI motor into a vintage car or the occassional person who wants to use the factory setup to swap a carb motor to EFI, but I'd say the computer and harness aren't worth more than $100...maybe $200 max if two people really wanted them on Ebay or something of the sort.  Hope this helps.
