Honda Repair: High-mount Brake light 2000 accord, honda accord ex, light bulbs

Question
Hello Steve,

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe. Lately the High Mount Brake light (located in the interior, not a spoiler) has stop functioning. I have replaced the light bulbs on all brake lights and it has continued to not work. I can not give a timeframe of when it stopped, but it's been a month or two.

My experience with auto repair is minimal but I can figure how to most things out with a little time.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

Ben

Answer
I'm assuming by the way you worded your question that your other brake lights work. The first thing you need to do is get a voltmeter and check to see if you are getting power to the light socket. You should have battery voltage. If you are then you probably have a problem with the grounding (or a bad connection where you insert the bulb into the connector). If there is not power then you need to look at all of your connections for the high mount brake light.
