Honda Repair: honda accord lx, honda accord lx, cabin air filter

Question
Just bought a 98 honda accord LX 4 cyl 2.4 ltr, 123,000 Started  smelling a foul smell from the a/c, now I seem to be smelling fuel inside and around the outside of the vehicle,  I also had a check engine light come on and had the code read at autozone it came up as p1457

Answer
Raul, the code is an EVAP system leak. Basically a filter for your fuel system, but, not your fuel filter.

First, unscrew your fuel cap and retighten with 3 clicks. You might have put gas in this car recently and did not tighten the cap completely.

Now go back to AutoZone and have them clear the codes from your system. If the light goes off and doesn't come on for about a week or so you fixed the problem.

If it does return you need to take this to a shop or fix the problem yourself. There is a charcoal canister that needs to be replaced either on your firewall or near the gas tank.

The A/C smelling foul means that the A/C needs to be serviced - recharged. And/or the cabin air filter needs to be replaced. Or both.
Ask AutoZone about A/C recharge kits and if you even have an in-cabin air filter for this car. (I don't remember 100%)
