Honda Repair: 1994 Honda Accord Wagon, radiator hoses, radiator fluid

Question
Our Honda overheats when the AC is on.  First, we replaced the thermostat.  Still overheated.  Then we noticed that one of the fans does not work.  Friend used a wire to bypass the relay switch and the fan would come on but not stay on.  Could the computer be the problem, and if so how do you find out?  Would it be less expensive to hook up a new fan and if it doesn't work, then worry about the computer?  Are there more than one relay switch and maybe the guy doesn't know about it?  What should we do next?

Answer
Audrey, whichever the main fan is faulty or the A/C fan is? The A/C fan is near the A/C pump and the main fan is located closer to the battery. Either way this is not causing your overheating problem. And having your friend jumping wires to the other fan is not a solution too. Please return the wiring back to the stock wiring. Modifying the wiring can result in an engine fire. Even though your friend might disagree I would not like to see your car have an engine fire. First off, the cooling system relies on only a select few of engine components. Radiator, hoses carrying radiator fluid, thermostat, water pump, and a few sensors. Now the A/C system relies on the coolant system to be performing 100% in order for the A/C to run 100%. Has the belt to the A/C system been inspected? Has the A/C pump been inspected? Have you recently had the A/C serviced and did they just refill your freon level? Has the radiator or any of the above mentioned components been replaced? Please provide more detailed comprehensive information in order for me to provide you with a more detailed response in a follow-up question.
