Honda Repair: 1994 honda accord gauges, black gauge, background lighting

I recently replaced the old black gauge backings with some light up ones and once I replaced the dash back into the car and turn the car on my speedometer jumps to 20 and stays and my tachometer jumps to 3 and bounces around when i drive. my temp and gas dont move at all. what can cause this? i did not touch any wiring at all cept to remove the dash gauges from the dash itself. thank you for any help.

Matt, unfortunately the aftermarket background lighting for your instrument cluster is a touchy process. Did you pop off the needles? To install it or did you slide it around the needles? Whichever the needles are super sensitive. To much excessive pressure and they can fail. And do exactly what you are talking about they are doing. Basically replace the instrument cluster with a used unit is my only advice.
