Honda Repair: Master Cylinder, independant shop, google

Question
Hi Travis,

Was wondering if you could give me a ball park figure on what it would cost to have the master cylinder replaced in my 1995 Honda Civic DX Automatic with roughly 99,000 miles. Did a search on Google for the part and came up with prices around $50.00. I don't mind paying what it is worth but don't want to be taken advantage of because I'm a single woman and have no idea what the labor would be.

Thanks for any help and/or advice!

Answer
Labor costs can vary with what shop you choose too have the repair done. A good way to check is to get a quote from the dealer and start there. That would be the most expensive option. Then you could call around too different shops and get over the phone quotes. Brakes should be thoroughly bled as well. This could be an additional charge, (brake fluid DOT 3,) depending on an independant shop but should be included in the quote. Hope this helps you...
