Honda Repair: 1990 accord, honda acord, coolant temp

Question
i got a 1990 honda acord ex when i start it while cold it idles up and down until the temp gauge is at mid way ( car is warmed up ) i changed the coolant temp sensor what do you think is wrong ( oh and it burns a ignition coil about every three months could these problems be distributor)??

Answer
For the fluctuation, its more than likely going to be a bad cold idle valve. On the end of the intake manifold is where you can find it. Theres a wax pellet that tends to stop sealing when its supposed to and causing a idle fluctuation till its warmed up.

For your coil issue. When was the last time you replaced you plugs and wires. If they are pretty old and ratty or even cheap after market, they could be over-working the coil causing premature death. I would change the cap rotor plugs and wires and see how long your coil lasts.
