Honda Repair: 89 accord wont start, honda accord lxi, 1989 honda accord lxi

Question
I have a 1989 Honda Accord LXi,fuel injected, 5 speed with 290,000 miles.  It won't start, changed ignition switch, checked switch under the clutch, can push start it and runs great. Is there a relay between the starter and the ignition switch that could be the problem?

Answer
Hi, and to start you have a lot of issues that could be causing the non-start. There are three essential things needed to start any car; 1) Fuel, 2) Air, and 3) Spark. (Verify that you have these because this is important!) If you have those covered then it is electrically based issue and not mechanical. Then check all in-car and under-hood fuses. (When I mean check, check with a test light. Not visually.) Does the car turn over AT ALL? Or does it do nothing? Do your lights come on, on your dash? Is there a check engine code? Check the battery. Check the starter to see if there is power being sent from the battery?

And yes there are switches and relays between the starter and ignition switch. And yes this could very well be your problem. I hope this helps.
