Honda Repair: fuel filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, honda cr v

Question
Hi. I have a 98 Honda CR-V and recently when I start the car, it sometimes cuts out once it started.
There are a few times when I was driving and the engine stalls. It takes sometimes 10 restarts to get it started again!  The car is over 100K and I never replaced the fuel filter before. I read up online that an old fuel filter may cause stalling. So I bought a new fuel filter.
However, I am not sure if I can replace it on my own. It looks very simple: one input and one output line.
The gas line look like aluminum. Should I worry about gas pressure coming out or gas spillage when I remove that line? Also, what is the best way to get the fuel filter out?  Lastly, am I resolving the problem correctly by replacing the fuel filter first?  It seems like the first cheap step to resolve my problem.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Ben this is probably not the problem, I had this problem with a 1990 Honda and i replaced the fuel filter under the hood and the gas tank, after the money was spent i figured out it was the distributor. I replaced the wires first and the problem still exists until i changed the distributor
