Honda Repair: 89 Accord fuel injector leak, haynes repair manual, cv boots

Question
I have a fuel injector leak that is keeping me from passing smog test in Ca. I wanted to know how difficult it is to repair the problem yourself, or if it is just easier to have it done. I have replaced both front/back brakes, replaced the radiator, thermostat, and helped a friend's Dad replace my axle and cv boots. I can do anything that is not too difficult and involved, and I actually like to so that I can learn more and more about my car and how to fix it. The car has over 282,000 miles on it. I know it isn't going to last long, but it is all I have right now, and if I can save a little by doing the work myself, I prefer to. If you could help with your opinion and possibly a how to, it would be great. Thank you.

Answer
i have heard of those cars lasting 600,000+ miles so i wouldn't say it is almost through yet.

this could actually be a very minor problem. if it is leaking from just one injector it is probably a bad o ring. use a 10mm socket to unbolt the fuel rail from the air intake. you should expose the tops of all the injectors. see if there is a tear in the black o ring on the top of the injector. if so they are extremely cheap at an auto parts store. or a salvage yard should have them. you can use one off any Honda 1989-2000 or Mitsubishi eclipse 1992-99. that should fix the leak. if not depending on where the leak is, you might have to just replace the fuel rail or that injector. probably a salvage yard or eBay would be the cheapest. i would recommend purchasing a Haynes Repair Manual from the local auto parts store. it will walk you step by step through the process.
