Honda Repair: Knocking Noise when the A/C is on, civic dx, noice

Question
I have a 2000 Civic DX with 95K.  The car has run great from day one, but in the last few months I have been getting a knocking noice when the engine is idleing at a stop and the A/C is engaged.  If I turn off the A/C the noise stops.  The A/C is ice cold and other than the noise, all seems to run well.  How long should I wait to get this addressed?  Am I in danger of damaging my car by not getting this fixed right away?

Answer
Daniel, I would have it looked at. You may have a overcharged A/C, loose compressor mounting bolts etc. Its to hard to say without seeing the vehicle myself. It could be that the idles to low on the car and when the A/C is on it loads up the engine to much. Hard to say but for peace of mind, have it seen to. RICK
