Honda Repair: 1989 Honda Prelude, honda prelude, 1989 honda prelude

Question
I have a 1989 Honda prelude, 156000 miles, it has run fine for the three years I have had it, but now it starts and dies basically it it turning over and then it dies. It starts sometimes, but I don't turn it off until I get back home. What could be going on with it. I thought at first I was out of gas so put gas in in it the gas gauge has never worked, but when the car chugs I fill it up, if not before hand. I have recently moved and I don't have my wonderful mechanics any more. What is wrong with my car, please help. Thanks bunches Emily

Answer
Emily, when it starts and then dies do the oil and battery light stay on? If not you may need an ignition switch(electrical portion) If it cranks but doesn't start you may need a main relay which controls the fuel pump. When you turn the ignition switch on the engine light comes on for 2 seconds and then goes off, at the same time it goes off you shuld hear a click, if not chances are the relay is bad, let me know, RICK
