Honda Repair: 91 Honda Civic, fuel situation, 91 honda civic

Question
Our 91 Honda Civic recently started "bogging down" when the the throttle was depressed. It would start and idle just fine and would go if you "babied" the pedal, quickly tapping it to get enough rpm's up to get it moving.  But when you got up into a higher gear and pressed the gas pedal it would bog down until you released the pedal.  It slowly got worse (over a 2 day period) until it finally just died altogether and now will not start. (My daughter and I towed it home last night).
Fuel pump? I've also been told it may be a fuel regulator?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I understand the pump is under the the rear seat or trunk?
Thank You.

Answer
John, I think you may have a plugged exhaust(catalytic converter). Before you start looking into a fuel pump confirm a no fuel situation. If you remove a plug can you smell fuel? Try removing the catalytic and try starting the car and let me know. RICK
