Greetings.  I have a 1991 Honda Accord LX with a factory radio.  How do I get it out?

Thank you,
George
Answer -
George:
There should be screws in the front of the radio when you pop off the bezel that holds it in place. There are also screws or at least one screw) in the back of the unit that holds it to the interior frame. Once loose it will slide out the front, you may have to remove the antenna and connector plugs first if there is not enough slack to pull through.

Thank you, Bill.  It is my understanding that this particular year and model requires a 5-digit passcode to remove the radio.  It was an anti-theft mechanism that was a production feature.

Sincerely,
George

Answer
George:
That code will be needed whenever the radio is removed or when the batter is replaced. You will need the code when you put the radio back in. To get the code, you will need the serial number from the radio and proof of ownership. Take that info to Honda and they will give you the code free of charge. You can have them take the radio out and get the s/n but it will cost you about $75.
