Honda Repair: car wont start, blown head gasket, honda accord lxi

Question
-------------------------
Bill,

I had emailed u a while back about my 1987 Honda Accord LXi fuel-injected automatic.  It will not start. Overheated 3 months or so ago. You said to check fuel delivery system. did that. Still no luck. Friend even siphoned out old gas and put in new.

Checked fuel pump. Works. Fuses work. replaced all spark plugs. Old ones had moisture on them. They work. New distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires and water pump, among other things.
Any suggestions? Had a compression check while back. No compression in some of cylinders. Doing research on leakdown test. Must the engine be running to do this? And would this signifigantly narrow down the problem?
Thank u for your time.

Answer
Amy:
If you do not have compression in some of the cylinders you have found the problem, probably caused from overheating, you have a blown head gasket. Since you don't have compression there is not a real need to do a leak down test. This is going to be major work on your car. If you have the head gasket fixed you will want to have the engine rebuilt also.
