Honda Repair: 96 Accord engine Cuts Out when a/c is on, accord vtec, web bill

Question
Hi Bill,

I have a 96 Accord VTEC 2.2L. (I'm in the Philippines but I belive the engine is the same as the US model). That overheated and we decided to just replace it with a surplus engine from Japan. It is still a 2.2, but were not sure what year it was built. Mechanics say it is newer, but probably still within the 96-97 model range. All the electricals had to be replaced to accomodate the new engine, but now, when the a/c is on, the idle is very low or the engine cuts out completely. Mechanics suspect is that it's an electrical problem, but they're having trouble without the wiring diagrams of the original engine. Hope you can help-

Thanks,

Miguel

Answer
Miguel:
The wiring for 96-97 is the same; you should be able to get the wiring diagram from a repair manual at the auto parts store. They are probably correct in the diagnosis, when the a/c is turned on the idle is turned up from a sensor.
Hope this helps.
Bill
The only place I know where to get a wiring diagram would be in the service manual, it is not on the web.
