Honda Repair: High pitch noise, high pitch, dear bill

Dear Bill,
    My daughter has a 1999 Accord.  Recently she had trouble starting it.  When jumped it ran fine.  The battery was original so I took it to Sears for a new battery.  They ran a electrical system check.  At first they said the battery was fine but the alternator was bad.  Then they ran a separate check on the battery and said it was no good.  They replaced the battery and checked it again and said the alternator was ok.  Ever since having this done I hear a high pitch noise when the engine is running.  It sounds different than it ever has before.  Do you have any thoughts on what might be causing this high pitch whine?

Without being able to hear the noise, it is difficult to diagnosis. See if you can more isolate the noise. Try removing a drive belt to diagnosis what component is making the noise. Only other thing to check would be the starter to make sure it is disengaging after the engine has started.
