Honda Repair: 92 Accord, tie rod ends, tie rods

Question
My power steering seems to have gone. The fluid is ok and the tires are new but the turning of the steering wheel is very very hard. what may be wrong and what costs am I expecting for repair? It has 130,000 miles.

Answer
Dave:
It may not be your power steering. Check the balljoints, tie-rod ends or rack and pinion assembly. Balljoints might cost about $100+ each and there are four, seems unlikely that all would need to be replaced. Tie-rods probably about the same. The rack and pinion may be pretty expensive, $400+. If it's the power steering unit you might be looking at $200.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Good luck.
