Honda Repair: Honda Gearshift sticks, gearshift, honda accord

1990 Honda accord.  Recently, when the temperature dropped to the 20's, I couldnt move the gearshift out of park. After much effort I got it into N, moved it back to Park where it got stuck again.  Again much effort moved it into N where I leave it when I park, but not a good idea. Car shifts OK, can move between R-N-D but not into P.  Any ideas?

If you are parking on a hill, sometimes that may cause difficulty in shifting from park. You may want to apply parking brake before putting in park. If that is not the case there may be something wrong with the mechanisms that lock into park, it would need to be fixed.
