Honda Repair: honda accord, shift lock, shift cable

Gene,thanks for your last response, now i have another question. When starting my accord i have to mannualy disengage the shifter lock when in park.After it is in gear i can shift in and out of park without disengaging the lock. Whats wrong?

Well you can have a few things going on here. Check your brake switch. Are your brake lights working? If yes, then your switch is ok. Next you may have a shift cable out of adjustment. Wiggle the shifter next time you start it in the morning. If it comes out of park, it is probally an adjustment. Next thing you may have is a bad shift lock selnoid going bad. That sits by the shifter and you need to remove the center console to check it. This is not a common problem and it may be hard to diagnose over the internet and not being in front of the car.
Start there and let me know what happens,
