Hyundai Repair: hyundai sonata 1998 door wont unlock, hyundai sonata, lock switch

My wife has a 1998 Hyundai Sonata, the passenger side door wont unlock even though the locking nob moves up and down.

Hi, Bevan.  There are two basic possibilities.

The lock rod between the knob and the latch may have come loose or may not be securely clipped in place.  Expect this to be the case if the key lock still works and the power lock switch still unlocks the door.

The latch itself may be broken.  If neither the key lock nor the power lock switch do not unlock the door, expect this to be the case.
