Hyundai Repair: CD Error / not working, hyundai sonata 2006, hyundai sonata

Question
QUESTION: After returnig from vacation I found my Hyundai Sonata 2006 V6 to have a dead battery, I re-charged the battery everything came back to normal except the CD player/changer, whentrying to operate the CD player/changer, it give me an error message and reverts back to the radio.  I have looked this up in the maual and have not been able to find a solution or instructions on how to reset the CD player / chnager.  Thanks in adnvance for any hep.

ANSWER: Hi, Elliott.  I don't have good news for you.  The most likely scenario is that your CD player is done.

First, however, see if you can reset the radio.  Pull out the yellow connector in the dash fuse box and leave it out for five minutes.  Then push it back in and see if your CD player corrects the issue.

In addition, follow-up and let me know the exact error code that is displayed.  This will hopefully enable me to tell you what sort of issue the CD player is having.

QUESTION: Thanks for the advice, unfortunately the CD player is still not working, it gives me a "no CD error", I know for a fact that there are 6 CD's loaded in the changer, so something is wrong.  Any further advice before I approach the Hyundai dealership? Thanks in advance!

Answer
The issue is that your radio doesn't think there are any CDs in it.  Potentially, something is just a little out of positing inside.

As you've already tried the reset procedure, the only thing I have left to suggest is to (as crass as it sounds) slap the dash in the area of the radio with the idea that you may vibrate things back into proper position.  If nothing happens, try the reset procedure again afterward as things may have moved back where they should be and just simply need another reset.  Just make sure you don't slap the dash so hard as to damage it.

As for going to the dealer about the radio, if you don't have an extended warranty that covers the radio, there's little they'll be able to do for you other than replacing the radio at your expense.  The factory warranty on the radio is only 3 years/36,000 miles.  If you're looking to replace, it's my opinion that you'll be able to get a much better unit for less money that the dealer will charge you for a factory replacement.
