Ihave a 2002 hyundai santa fe and when i go to drive my car the car stays in drive and 1st gear at the same time, the same problem happened a year ago and hyundai replaced a switch or board that is located under the shifter, they told me that i got water or some drink spilled there, can i buy that part and install it myself, what is it called

Answer
Hi, Rob.  You can indeed by the switch box assembly at your local Hyundai dealer.  You'll want part number 46740-39000.  When replacing the switch box assembly, also look at the connector where the wires attach.  Often, this gets liquid in it as well, causing the circuits to short together.

If you do not have an account at www.hmaservice.com, I recommend you register for one.  There's a very nice techical service bulletin (TSB 06-40-013) describing how to diagnose problems with these switches.  While I expect you won't have access to the scan tool, the TSB, along with the schematic (found in the ETM section) can provide you with a framework for testing the circuits on your own with a multimeter.
