Hyundai Repair: 2006 Hyundai Accent SE Hatchback, emergency flashers, hyundai accent

Question
What would cause the air conditioner to cut out and the hazard light to come on and the car acting like it was going to die?  Could it be the battery going bad?  This just happened, and I pulled off to the side of the road, turned the car off, turned it back on and drove about 1/4 mile farther to my friend's house and it is parked there now.  When I turned the car back on, the hazard light wasn't on, but the car continued to not run right.

Answer
It is more likely this would be caused by a faulty alternator, as the alternator will provide the necessary electricity to operate the vehicle even if the battery isn't properly charged or will not hold a charge.

When you refer to the "hazard light," are you referring to the emergency flashers or something else?  If something else, please let me know what indicator was illuminated.  If you're unsure what the indicator means, your owner's manual should have pictures of all the indicators with explanations.
