Question
How do I change the transmission fluid, filter, and gasket on a 2003 Hyundai Sonata? It appears to be a side mount pan. Is the filter inside the pan? Is there a gasket needed?

Answer
The filter is deep inside the transmission and is not intended to be serviced, so there's no need to remove the pan.  Simply remove the 24mm plug from the bottom of the trans, drain the fluid, reinstall the plug with a new washer, and add about 5 quarts fluid.
