Hyundai Repair: Torque converter clutch solenoid problem, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
I have a 2005 Santa Fe intermittently showing code p0741 (t/c clutch solenoid performance or stuck off).  This is manifested by rpm's either steady upon accelerating for a while or increasing by 300-400 (without trans dropping to lower gear) then back to steady.  If this is the solenoid needing replacement, what is a fair price.  No warranty.

Answer
It's difficult for me to give you a fair price because there are too many things I don't know:
--Your geographic location
--The shop doing the work
--The parts source used by the shop.

At my place of employment, I'd expect something in the neighborhood of $650, but that may not have any relevance to where you would have the vehicle repaired.

Ultimately, the answer to this question is probably moot.  According to TSB 09-AT-018, if you have P0741 with no other solenoid codes and no DTC P0335 or P0725, you should replace the transmission (i.e. the issue is not the solenoid).
