Hyundai Repair: intermittent starting problem, starter solenoid, range switch

Question
hi i have a sonata 2001 v6 automatic transmission . when i go around sometime it doesn't restart after i make my grocery or something like that its intermittent. i don't know if its related but it only do it since its cold outside.Everything work well radio light etc... light goes off when i try to start like normally but starter make no sound nothing i ear gas pump starting but starter don't even click on something. i come back around later and just start normally no weird sound or anything. could it be my transaxle(transmission) range switch.
P.s : i tried to put it in neutral to start and my dash light indicating the gear follow the shifter.

Answer
It's possible this is caused by the range switch, but since the gear indicator in the cluster indicates the proper gear position, that isn't likely.

A common failure I've seen, albeit not on this model, is a poor connection at the starter lug.  To check for this, try grasping the terminal at the lug and twisting it.

Ultimately, if the above doesn't change the symptoms, the only way to determine the problem for certain is to test the starting system while the problem is occurring.

A reasonable place to start is to check for proper voltage at the starter solenoid wire.
If you don't get the proper voltage, then you'll need to check the circuit activating the solenoid, which includes a relay, the ignition switch, and the range switch.  If you do get the proper voltage, then you need to examine the high current starter cirucit-- the battery cables and the starter itself.
