Hyundai Repair: Troubleshooting code P1529, transmission control module tcm, transmission control module

Question
The code refers to a intake camshaft control circuit short to B+. Is this something that I can repair myself, or do I need to take it to the dealer?
What kind of charge am I looking at?

Answer
The code definition you were given is incorrect.  P1529 is a code stored in the engine control module (ECM) that simply indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has requested the check engine lamp to be turned on.  To find out the nature of the problem, you'll need to read the transmission diagnostic trouble codes.  AutoZone and AAMCO have advertised they'll read trouble codes for free, but it's unclear whether all of them have tools capable of reading the TCM.  In many cases, the problem is nothing more than a faulty input or output speed sensor.

If you find someone who can read the TCM codes, follow up with them here, and I'll advise on further diagnosis/repair.  If not, you'll probably need to pay the dealer to do the diagnosis.
