Hyundai Repair: 2001 sonato tranny, transmission control module tcm, transmission control module

Question
i have automatic tranny 2001 sonata. at times it starts off in a high gear very slow to get up to speed. If i stop and turn if off and back on it runs normal. My check engine lite is also on.

To know the nature of your problem, I'll need the associated trouble codes.  The symptoms you describe are the standard responses when the transmission control module (TCM) detects a problem.  AutoZone and AAMCO have advertised they'll check your trouble codes for free.  Once you know the trouble codes stored in your engine control module (ECM) and TCM, follow up with the code numbers here, and I'll advise on how to continue with diagnosis/repair.
