Hyundai Repair: negative ground, careful note, replacement battery

Question
Replacing the battery in my '01 Santa Fe ..... but didn't take careful note of whether the negative pole is the ground. Thought I had it right but the new battery I bought has the poles reversed from the original and the + cable won't reach the post. Am I trying to put it in backwards?

Answer
The negative pole is indeed ground.  The factory battery is oriented so that the terminals are toward the rear of the battery and the positive terminal is closer to the engine.  Sometimes, if the replacement battery has the poles reversed, you can turn it around so that the terminals are on the front of the battery, but the positive is still closer to the engine.  If this won't work, you'll need to return the replacement for a battery with proper pole orientation.  If I recall correctly, group 24F fits perfectly.
