Hyundai Repair: terracan manual gear changing problems., hyundai service, shaft cover

Question
Hi I have a 2005 terracan TD it has done 30000Ks. for the last year or or so I have been having problems when changing gears from low to high. Also at times when trying to change gear the gears stick and I also find that the geras grind and the pedal is rough on engagment and disengagment. The dealer has had the car in and replaced the input shaft cover. It was badly worn. But after haveing the car back an hour the problems stated again.
Would you have any ideas what it could be as I really like the vehicle and don't want to get rid of it.

Answer
If you're changing between 4WD low and 4WD high, the problem is most likely in your transfer case.  While I have no experience with the Terracan, most vehicles require you to be in neutral or park to shift between 4WD high and 4WD low.

Realistically, if you'd like the vehicle repaired at no charge, you're stuck with the dealer (or whatever facility performs Hyundai service work in your country).  Any opinions I can offer without looking at your vehicle will be of no interest to them.  They have the advantage of having the vehicle present for inspection.
