Hyundai Repair: 1994 Hyundai Excel over heating, electric cooling fan, radiator cap

Question
the electric cooling fan is not coming on causing the car to overheat. could it be a fuse? possibly thermostat?

Answer
Check the fuses for the fans in the underhood fuse box.  If okay, the fan thermal switch in the radiator has probably failed.

A failed thermostat is another possibility because the coolant won't be able to flow.  As a result, the coolant in the radiator won't get hot.  To check for a stuck closed thermostat, start the car with the radiator cap off and check to see whether the coolant begins to flow prior to the engine beginning to overheat.
